Malta

Introduction:

Malta is the smallest EU nation in size and population. It has a lovely Mediterranean climate and, in fact, in January 2007, International Living chose Malta as the country with the best climate in the world. The arts have always played a large role in Maltese culture and continue to do so with cultural events occurring frequently. The National Museum of Fine Arts, housed in an exuberant Rococo building dating from the 1570’s, exhibits some magnificent art, ranging from the early Renaissance to modern times. Theatre and music are also very popular in the Islands. A variety of theatres and open-air venues offer an enormous ensemble of plays, musicals, operas and both classical and modern music concerts. Second to Vatican City, Malta is the most Catholic nation in the world with 98% being Roman Catholic. The languages spoken in Malta are Maltese and English.

Malta Diving Holiday:

Malta’s warm clear and tideless waters offer a wealth of diving opportunities to beginner and expert divers alike. After a flight of just over 3 and a half hours, divers can experience crystal clear deep blue waters with unbelievable submarine topography, fish life and wrecks, the numbers of which have increased following the Maltese government’s Artificial Reef Programme. St. Julians & St. George’s Bay

St. Julians Bay Once a small fishing village, St. Julians Bay is known for its great location and abundance of entertainment options. Valletta

The knights of St. John built the beautiful old Fortress City of Valletta in the 16th century. Meander through its quaint streets where one will find fine palaces, some important museums and churches, and the magnificent St. John’s Co-Cathedral – a treat for lovers of fine art. Enter the gardens of the Upper Baracca for breathtaking views of the Grand Harbour. A busy city by day, by night a peaceful retreat of cafés, wine bars and lovely restaurants.

Valletta attracts shoppers and museum enthusiasts alike! Its narrow streets are home to a variety of shops, from tiny antique shops to the latest fashion outlets. The city also hosts a vast cultural programme - music events, arts and the theatre are ever present.

San Anton

The official home of Malta’s president. It is however better known for the landscaped botanical gardens. Situated amid the three villages of Balzan, Lija and Attard, where one can explore Maltese village life.From the airport: Malta Airport - San Anton : 25 minsSan Anton, situated inland, offers a peaceful alternative and serves as a good base for exploring the island.Botanical Gardens, Palazzo Parisio (Naxxar) can be reached by car or bus.
