Canada

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is the most popular tourist attraction in Canada – over 12 million visitors every year! And it’s always been a very popular honeymoon destination as well. The falls themselves are spectacular, even though some of the surrounding area is beginning to resemble Las Vegas!

There are a steadily growing number of some rather gimmicky tourist trap offerings springing up near the Falls – Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Madame Tausaud’s Wax Museum, Criminal Hall of Fame, and so on. The waterfalls themselves are what you’re really here for, and these are a few activities you’ll want to include on your visit here, as well as one great little sidetrip.

Vancouver

Vancouver is a great place for romantic vacations, or as a base for exploring southwestern B.C. The city has some really good things going for it:

  • Fresh ocean air
  • Very clean, and very green
  • Beautiful mountains just a few minutes away
  • Huge variety of places to eat, stay and shop
  • Recreation in abundance

One of the most unique aspects about Vancouver is its location – the wilderness is only a ½ hour drive away from downtown! The hiking, sailing, skiing and golfing are awesome too and available most of the year. You can travel to Whistler quite easily (1.5 hr drive from the city), and the ferry to Victoria on Vancouver Island is a short 30 km trip to the south.

Whistler

Whistler is a great romantic getaway from Vancouver, and a world-class destination all itself.
The Whistler resort area is one of the best ski destinations anywhere, and an accessible playground in the beautiful British Columbia outdoors.

If you haven’t already included Whistler in your plans for Vancouver, give it some serious thought. There are few places so close to a major city and airport which offer such a breathtaking alpine wilderness environment.

As with any world famous resort, prices for Whistler packages have crept up in recent years. But the Canadian dollar is still considerably lower than both the U.S. dollar and Euro, and with a little shopping around, you can still make a Whistler ski vacation or summer getaway an affordable trip.

Canadian Rockies

A Canadian Rockies vacation is a spectacular wilderness adventure! Grizzly bears, waterfalls, scenic drives...(and that's on a slow day!)

For "seclusion lovers", the Rockies are one of the most accessible remote areas in the world.
Some of the best sights include:

• Emerald green lakes and streams
• Majestic snow-capped mountains
• Beautiful glaciers and icefields
• Amazing waterfalls and hot springs
• Captivating wildlife
• Deep lush forests and valleys

A Canadian Rockies Vacation offers an unbeatable mix of outdoors, adventure, serenity and beauty. And with the low Canadian dollar, it's one of the more affordable wilderness vacations.

Victoria

Victoria, BC, Canada has to be one of the most romantic places in Canada! Incredibly clean & quaint, Victoria almost seems like a little piece of old England perched on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. It's a favorite romantic destination or day trip from Seattle or Vancouver.

Best Season for Romantic Getaways in Victoria - Victoria, BC has some of the best weather in Canada. Summers are sunny and warm. Spring can be a wonderful time in this part of Vancouver island, with mild temperatures, fresh sea breezes and flowers blooming just about everywhere!

Fall and winter bring plenty of showers and cooler temps, but rarely any snow. The best time to visit Victoria BC would be from April to the end of September.

Ontario

Ontario is forests and lakes, interesting little towns and villages, magnificent Niagara Falls, and of course, dynamic places like Ottawa and Toronto, Canada's largest city.

It's also a huge province, so this section concentrates mostly on getaways in Southwestern Ontario (And don't miss our page on romantic getaways & hotel packages in Niagara Falls ).

So what's the best time to visit Ontario? Late spring (May) right thru to the fall foliage season in October.
Here's some of our choices for the most romantic spots in Ontario...
